On Friday, January 24, 2020, at around 4:15AM central time, a building at the Watson Grinding and Manufacturing facility at 4525 Gessner Road in Houston, Texas, exploded, sending out powerful shockwaves which killed two, sent others to the hospital, and caused significant damages to surrounding homes and other structures.

The two dead may be employees of the facility, which according to its website has for over 50 years provided machining, grinding, lapping and thermal spray coatings. Various reports suggest it was a gas explosion but cause and origin investigation has just begun.

Local authorities are expanding their search outwards from the plant, searching for additional victims, and confirming the stability of surrounding structures. It has also been reported that debris from the explosion extends at least a quarter-mile from the blast site.
