Fire on PEMEX Akal-H Offshore Platform in Gulf of Mexico

There was a fire on an offshore oil platform operated by PEMEX in the Gulf of Mexico on June 22, 2015.  The incident occurred on the company’s unmanned Akal-H platform, in the Bay of Campeche, offshore Mexico.  Early reports indicate three workers were evacuated from the platform as a result of the fire, with an additional sixteen injured.  It is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
