Explosion in Corpus Christi Ship Channel

by | Aug 21, 2020 | Maritime Law, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death

According to local officials, a propane line was struck by a barge during a dredging operation in the Corpus Christi, Texas ship channel, resulting in an explosion.  18 people were involved in the incident.  Multiple individuals remain missing at this point, with at least one death confirmed.

Local firefighters have confirmed that at this point the barge is fully engulfed in flames, and the fire has spread to a nearby refinery.  There are some indications the dredge may be owned by Orion Marine, which recently won a contract to perform dredging work in the ship channel.
