Following the passage of Hurricane Laura over Southwest Louisiana, a fire has erupted at a Lake Charles chemical plant. The fire continues to burn at Biolab, a plant that produces a number of pool and cleaning chemicals. The nearby cities of Westlake, Moss Bluff and Sulphur have issued emergency shelter-in-place orders for their citizens.
Louisiana State Police have indicated the source of the fire is a chlorine leak at the plant. It is unknown at this time if any workers sustained injuries in this incident.
