A plane crashed on August 20, 2020, at the Rockford, Illinois Airport. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), shortly after takeoff, the twin-engine Beechcraft Super King Air went off the runway around 3:40 p.m. and burned after impact. The FAA has indicated that the pilot on board died in the crash.
Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
