At least one passenger is dead following a deadly helicopter crash into the Tennessee River at 7:40 p.m. on August 3, 2020. Three other passengers were able to escape the helicopter’s wreckage and were rescued by a boat on the river. Divers subsequently located the body of the deceased passenger.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the helicopter, an a Eurocopter EC-130, hesitated before impacting the water. The FAA has said the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the probable cause of the deadly accident.
