An explosion occurred on August 10, 2020 at the DAR PRO Solutions plant at the Greater Jackson Industrial Park near Byram, Mississippi. DAR PRO Solutions is a recycling plant that collects and recycles cooking oil and meat byproducts. The company is owned by Texas-based Darling Ingredients.
Police have now confirmed that William Jackson, 51, and Terrence Fortenberry, 56, died from complications of thermal burns received during the explosion. Both men had been treated in the burn unit at Merit Health Central Hospital.
It is unclear at this time what caused the explosion to occur. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has previously cited the company for three serious violations in 2017.
