Crane Collapses After Being Struck by Container Ship

| Sep 14, 2020 | Maritime Law, Personal Injury

The container ship MSC MIA struck a gantry crane while leaving a terminal in Valencia, Spain on the morning of September 13, 2020.  As a result, the crane collapsed, and the crane operator sustained severe injuries.  Tragically, the crane operator is currently hospitalized. His condition is unknown at this time.

Operations involving cranes are some of the most dangerous that are done.  This is especially so in the maritime industry.  Safe maritime companies must take precautions to ensure that any lifts that are conducted are done safely.  This is both for the safety of the crew members on board a vessel, as well as those longshoremen who may be assisting on shore.

Our attorneys have extensive experience in maritime personal injury and wrongful death litigation and the skills needed to represent the families of loved ones who have lost their lives or those who have been seriously injured as a result of the negligence of another party. Spagnoletti Law Firm has lawyers admitted to practice in Texas, Florida and New York, and has handled maritime lawsuits throughout the country.  The firm has handled numerous cases involving crane accidents, both for injured crewmembers on a vessel, and for longshoremen.  There are strict and short time limits on making claims related to vessel accidents, so please contact us online or call 713-659-0257 or 877-678-5864 to learn more about your rights.
