Explosion at Idaho Sugar Processing Plant

| Sep 29, 2020 | Industrial Accident, Personal Injury

There was an explosion at the Amalgamated Sugar plant located in Nampa, Idaho Tuesday morning.    Around 7:45 a.m., the explosion occurred in the plant’s sugarbeet pulp steam dryer.  Early indications are that the explosion injured at least five workers at the facility.

Large processing plants can pose increased risks both to workers at the facilities and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken.  Although at this time it is not known what caused the explosion, safe plant operators must always ensure that equipment is regularly inspected and safely maintained.  Not only can an incident like this result in a catastrophic impact on the environment, but it can also result in a loss of life.
