A tragic accident occurred at a construction site in Meeker County, Minnesota on Friday. The accident occurred at a work site in Harvey Township near Litchfield around 11:45 am. Two workers became trapped when a concrete boom truck tipped over onto them. Early reports indicate that the concrete truck’s platform gave way, resulting in the boom falling. One worker died at the scene, and the other was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital with critical injuries. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigators will conduct an investigation into the deadly incident.

OSHA recommends JSAs be performed for all of the following:
• Jobs with the highest injury or illness rates;
• Jobs with the potential to cause severe or disabling injuries or illness, even if there is no history of previous accidents;
• Jobs in which one simple human error could lead to a severe accident or injury;
• Jobs that are new to your operation or have undergone changes in processes and procedures; and
• Jobs complex enough to require written instructions
According to a recent study by a business insurance analysis firm, 12 of the 25 most dangerous jobs as measured by the rate of people who die at work are in the construction industry.
