MAERSK LAUNCESTON Collides with Greek Vessel

The container ship MAERSK LAUNCESTON has struck a Greek naval ship on October 27, 2020.  At the time, the container ship was en route from Piraeus, Greece, bound for Canakkale Turkey.  The Greek minesweeper was cut in two.  Reports indicate that two crewmembers on board sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  The MAERSK LAUNCESTON is a container ship built in 2005, and operated by Maersk A/S.  The vessel is owned by Vierte Oceania.
