Crewmember Overboard from Tanker Sagami Near Sabine Pass, Texas

The United States Coast Guard has called off the search for a man who fell off the tanker ship Sagami while the vessel was offshore Sabine Pass, Texas on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.  The 27 year old crewman was rigging an accommodation ladder when he fell off the vessel, at the time 29 miles offshore.  Following the incident the Coast Guard conducted a two-day search covering approximately 2,800 square miles in an attempt to locate the missing crew member.  The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The Sagami is a products tanker ship built in 2008, and operated and managed by Odjfell Asia Pte Ltd.  The vessel’s registered owner is Chemtrans Navigation SA.
