Fire at El Salvador Gas Plant

by | Dec 7, 2020 | Industrial Accident

A fire occurred at a gas storage plant in El Salvador on Saturday.  Numerous homes nearby the facility sustained damage as a result of the flames.  It is unclear at this time what caused the incident, or if any workers were injured..

The fire occurred the same day there was an explosion at the Magellan refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas resulting in injuries to at least seven contractors.

Plants can pose significant dangers both to workers at the facilities and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken, especially when catastrophic explosions and fires can occur.  Although at this time it is not known what caused the explosion, safe plant operators must always ensure that equipment is regularly inspected and safely maintained.  Not only can an incident like this result in a catastrophic impact on the environment, but it can also result in a loss of life.
