Fire Breaks Out on Tug Boat Tag Nur 21

by | Dec 27, 2020 | Maritime Law

There was a fire on the tug boat Tag Nur 21 on the evening of December 25, 2020.  At the time the vessel was at Malacca Strait off Melaka, Malaysia.  It is unclear what caused the fire.  Seven crew members were safely evacuated.  It is unknown at this time if anyone sustained injuries.

The fire comes just one day after the deadly fire on board a Russian trawler vessel killed three.

Safe maritime companies must perform regular maintenance and inspections in order to ensure the safety of their crew members.  When ship operators fail to conduct regular maintenance and inspection of the equipment on their vessels, dangerous fires and explosions can result.  This not only puts the lives of hardworking seaman at risk, but can also endanger members of the public.
