The bulk carrier OWL, and the container ships VEGA SIGMA and ATLANTIC NORTH were involved in a collision in the Algeria port of Bejaia on December 6, 2020.  At the time, the VEGA SIGMA is believed to have lost control while unmooring.  It then struck the ATLANTIC NORTH which was in cargo operations.  A crane that was performing work then overturned as a result.  It is believed the VEGA SIGMA then struck the bulk carrier OWL.

It can be dangerous to work in any industry when safety considerations rare not made.  This is especially so when working on a ship. Safe maritime companies must ensure that their ships do not put the lives of their crew members and passengers at risk.  When employers fail to account for dangerous conditions and work, catastrophic incidents can result.
