Victim Identified in Deadly North Texas Plane Crash

A plane crashed on Monday, December 21, 2020, in Grand Prairie, Texas, shortly after takeoff.  At the time, the plane was attempting to land at the municipal airport, which it had taken off from just minutes prior.  Two individuals died in the crash.  Witnesses report the plane struck a telephone poll before hitting the concrete multiple times.  The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has identified one of the victims as Larry Ronald Vieregge of Grapevine, Texas.  Records indicate Vieregge died of blunt-force injuries with thermal trauma due to the crash.

There have been a number of recent plane crashes in the state.   On December 19, a plane crashed in Burleson, killing the pilot on board.  On December 15, a small plane crashed in South Texas, killing two on board.  On December 10, a plane crashed in Manvel, Texas after striking power lines.  On December 8, a pilot lost his life in Galveston while trying to stop a runaway plane.  On November 10, two died in a crash in Rockwall, Texas.
