Small Plane Crash in New Jersey Kills Pilot

An ultralight small airplane crashed on Monday, January 11, 2021, near Franklin Township, New Jersey.  Reports indicate the plane crashed near the Downstown Airport, but it is unclear if the airport was the destination.  The pilot’s body was recovered in the wreckage.  He has been identified as Gerard Asselta of Vineland, NJ.  It is unknown what led to the fatal crash.

The incident follows the November 24, 2020 crash of a Cessna 172 crashed in Manville, New Jersey, which injured two individuals.
