The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a single-vessel incident that occurred on January 29, 2021 in Avoyelles Parish, LA.  Reports indicate a 16 ft aluminum vessel began taking on water before capsizing on Lac Tete de Boeuf.  There were two people on the vessel at the time.  One passenger was able to swim to shore, but the second tragically lost his life.  The victim has been identified as 38 year old Vidal J. A recreational boating accident can be the result of many factors, including: human error, weather conditions, equipment failure, poor maintenance practices, waves caused by other vessels, or a lack of equipment.  An incident can often be a result of a combination of the above factors.
