Vessel Capsizes off Florida Coast – 6 Missing

A vessel capsized off the coast of Florida on February 10, 2021.  The vessel capsized in in the water off Fort Pierce, Florida.  One individual were rescued by a nearby vessel, but six others remain missing.  Search and rescue operations are under way in an attempt to locate the remaining passengers.  It is unclear at this time what caused the vessel to capsize.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  On January 17, 2021, the Ukrainian cargo ship Arvin sank with 13 crew members on board.  The container ship Tanto Bersinar collided with the Tug Mitra Jaya XIX on January 23, 2021.  A worker on board a barge owned by Zito Fleeting fell overboard on January 26, 2021, when the vessel was in the Lower Mississippi River near Jefferson Heights in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.  The bulk carrier GIULIA I was struck by rough weather on January 26, 2021, resulting in one fatality and multiple injured crew men.  A small recreational boat capsized on January 29, 2021 in Avoyelles Parish, LA, killing one.  A recreational boat capsized on February 2, 2021 in San Augustine County, Texas.  A recreational boat struck a channel marker on February 2, 2021 in Rankin County, Pennsylvania, resulting in one death.  A fire broke out in the engine room of the container ship VERA RAMBOW on February 8, 2021.  A crew member on the Russian cargo ship ATLANTIC PROJECT II tragically lost his life on February 9, 2021, during cargo operations.  A tug boat capsized off the northwest coast of British Columbia, Canada on February 11, 2021.  A recreational boat capsized off the coast of Oregon on February 11, 2021, killing two passengers.
