A fire was reported on the offshore support vessel Siem Diamond on Wednesday morning. At the time, the vessel was on standby for the Transocean Barents, a semi-submersible drilling rig. It is unclear what caused the fire, although it was apparently limited to a fast rescue boat which was on board. As a result of the damage, all helicopter flights to the drilling rig were suspended. It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured in the fire.
Safe maritime companies must perform regular maintenance and inspections in order to ensure the safety of their crew members.
