The cargo ship MEKHANIK PUSTOSHNYY collided with a lighthouse on January 28, 2021. At the time, the vessel was leaving Burnitsland, Scotland. It is unclear what led to the collision, or if any of the vessel’s crew members were injured. The ship is owned and operated by Northern Shipping Co.

A worker on board a barge owned by Zito Fleeting fell overboard on January 26, 2021, when the vessel was in the Lower Mississippi River near Jefferson Heights in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
