Fiery Crash on I-10 in Seguin, Texas – Multiple Fatalities

by | Aug 28, 2021 | Auto Accident, Wrongful Death

There was a deadly accident in Seguin, Texas on August 26, 2021.  The accident happened on on Interstate 10 at the State Highway 123 Bypass.  Early reports indicate an 18-wheeler was heading eastbound when it swerved to avoid hitting a construction crew working on the side of the highway.  The 18-wheeler was carrying a load of meat, some of which spilled onto the highway during the swerve.  A second 18-wheeler drove through the slippery spot on the road and lost control, crashing into the concrete barrier.  The cab of the 18-wheeler went over the concrete median, bursting into flames on the westbound lanes of I-10.  Multiple passenger vehicles were then involved in a second accident, also bursting into fire.  Three people were tragically killed in the crash.  It is unknown how many others sustained injuries.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this tragic accident.

There have been a number of recent trucking accidents in Texas and Louisiana, resulting in severe injuries and sometimes death.  There was a deadly big rig accident on Highway 69 in Smith County, Texas on August 17, 2021.  There was a deadly 18-wheeler accident in Allen, Texas on August 17, 2021.  There was an accident involving an 18-wheeler in Houston, Texas on August 24, 2021.  There was a deadly crash between an 18-wheeler and two other vehicles in Odessa, Texas on August 23, 2021.  There was a deadly rollover accident near Big Spring, Texas on August 24, 2021.

Safe trucking companies must take adequate precautions to ensure that their drivers do not severely injure or kill members of the public in a trucking accident.  Industry standards require trucking companies to regularly inspect their equipment.  Safe companies must also supervise their driver to ensure that the company’s policies and procedures have been followed.  When there is cargo involved, it must be adequately secured on the trailer.  Failing to adequately secure cargo can result in dangerous accidents like this one.
