There was a deadly accident involving a semi truck in Iowa, Louisiana on November 6, 2021.  The accident occurred on I-10 westbound.  Reports indicate that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling when it was struck at high speed from behind by an 18-wheeler.  According to eyewitness accounts, the 18-wheeler was traveling in excess of 70 miles per hour at the time of the collision.  The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this preventable accident.

There have been a number of recent trucking accidents in Texas and Louisiana, resulting in severe injuries and sometimes death.  There was a deadly accident when an 18-wheeler struck a bicyclist in Orange, Texas on October 20, 2021.  There was a deadly accident involving two 18-wheelers in Royse City, Texas on October 26, 2021.  There was a deadly accident involving a semi truck in Allen Parish, Louisiana on October 27, 2021.  There was an accident involving a semi truck and multiple passenger vehicles in Orange, Texas on October 31, 2021.

Safe trucking companies must take adequate precautions to ensure that their drivers do not severely injure or kill members of the public in a trucking accident.  Industry standards require trucking companies to regularly inspect their equipment.  Safe companies must also supervise their driver to ensure that the company’s policies and procedures have been followed.  Drivers must yield to other traffic on the roadway, including when merging lanes.  This is not just common sense, but is actually the law.
