A massive fire broke out at a plastics plant in Wharton, Texas on January 9, 2022. According to local authorities, there was a fire at the facility owned by Nan Ya Plastics Corp. USA. on Sunday night. Multiple nearby residences were evacuated as a result of the fire. The fire broke out with employees present at the facility. It is unclear if any workers at the plant were injured during the fire. At present it is unknown what chemicals were released into the air as a result of the fire, which last several hours.
