Fire and Chemical Release at Olin Plant at Dow Chemical in Plaquemine

There was a fire and release of chlorine at the Olin Plant at Dow Chemical in Plaquemine, Louisiana on April 18, 2022.  The release of chlorine resulted in a shelter in place being issued for residents of Iberville Parish.  According to reports, chlorine could be smelled miles from the plant.  Local roads were also closed to traffic.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
