Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion in Fort Bend County, Texas

by | Jul 7, 2022 | Industrial Accident

There was an explosion on a pipeline in Wallis, Texas on July 7, 2022.  According to reports, a pipeline in a field at the 15400 block of Jo Ann Lane near FM 1952 exploded on Thursday morning.  The pipeline was carrying natural gas at the time of the explosion.  Flames could be seen as far as thirty miles from the explosion.  It is unclear if any workers were present at that location when the explosion occurred.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and chemical plants.  There was a fire at the OxyChem vinyls plant in La Porte, Texas on June 21, 2022.   Three workers were injured in an explosion at the Quasar energy plant in Wooster, Ohio on June 14, 2022.  There was an explosion at the Freeport LNG facility in Freeport, Texas on June 8, 2022.

Refineries and pipelines can pose significant dangers both to workers and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken, especially when catastrophic fires or explosions can occur.  When explosive materials are present, it can also endanger those who are exposed to the smoke caused when a fire or explosion occurs.
