There was an explosion on a natural gas pipeline in Lake Lery, Louisiana on September 8, 2022.  According to reports, the Coast Guard is investigating the explosion and fire on the TOCA LINE, which is operated by Houston-based High Point Gas Transmission LLC.  The incident is believed to have been caused by a barge which struck the pipeline.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and manufacturing plants.  There was an explosion at the Braya Renewable Fuels oil refinery in Come By Chance, Newfoundland on September 2, 2022. There was an explosion at the West Rock Paper Mill in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina on August 25, 2022.  A worker was electrocuted at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Keene, New Hampshire on August 24, 2022.

Refineries and industrial facilities can pose significant dangers both to workers and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken, especially when fires and explosions can occur.  Equipment must be properly inspected and maintained to ensure that accidents do not occur.
