There was a fire at the Wilbur-Ellis Fertilizer Plant in Grant County, Washington on October 23, 2022.  According to reports, a fire broke out at the plant, which was quickly engulfed by flames.  The plant was constructed entirely of wood, resulting in the fire’s quick spread.  Authorities are concerned about the release of potentially toxic chemicals into the air as a result of the fire.  The Grant County Health District issued warnings to anyone downwind of the flames, that the smoke could potentially irritate eyes, nose, throat, airways, and lungs.  A shelter-in-place was issued as a result of these concerns.  Additional details have not yet been released.
