There was an explosion and fire at the Phillips 66 Refinery tank farm in Borger, Texas on January 17, 2023. The explosion occurred around 10:15 in the morning. The incident resulted in nearby Highway 136 being shutdown to traffic. Six people at the refinery sustained injuries. Some of the victims were treated for burn injuries at Golden Plains Community Hospital. Four of the injured were transported in critical condition to University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. It is unknown at this time what led to the explosion. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who sustained injuries in this incident.
