Massive Fire after Explosion at Illinois Chemical Plant

There was a fire at the Carus Chemical Company plant in LaSalle, Illinois on January 11, 2023.  Nearby residents were recommended to shelter in place as a result of the incident and potential chemical release.  It is unknown at this time what led to the explosion.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and manufacturing plants.  There was a deadly ammonia leak at a plant in Norwood, Massachusetts on December 19, 2022.  There was a fire at the Suncor refinery in Commerce City, Colorado on December 24, 2022.  There was a fire at a Sulfur Plant in Atmore, Alabama on January 6, 2023.  There was a fire at the Celanese Industrial chemical plant in Pasadena, Texas on January 6, 2023.
