There was a crash between an 18-wheeler and a Union Pacific cargo train near Splendora, Texas on February 13, 2023. Reports indicate a Union Pacific train struck a tractor trailer that was crossing over the train tracks that run along Interstate 69/U.S. 59. After the collision, at least 21 cars from the train derailed. Hazardous materials teams went to the crash site to monitor the situation. There are no crossing arms at the intersection where the incident occurred. The driver of the 18-wheeler was killed in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
