by | Apr 7, 2023 | Personal Injury, Train Accident, Wrongful Death

There was a deadly crash between a train and a passenger vehicle in Redlands, California on April 4, 2023.  Reports indicate a passenger vehicle was headed northbound when it became stopped on the tracks.  Shortly after, it was struck by a Metrolink train heading westbound on the tracks.  A minor female was ejected from the car and killed.  Her mother was taken to a local hospital with injuries.  The crash remains under investigation.

Tragically, there have been a number of recent accidents involving trains.  There was a crash between an 18-wheeler and a Union Pacific cargo train near Splendora, Texas on February 13, 2023.  A Norfolk-Southern train struck a dump truck in Cleveland, Ohio on March 7, 2023.  There was a collision between a train and a semi-truck in Schertz, Texas on March 28, 2023.

Safe train operators must take adequate precautions to ensure that their conductors do not severely injure or kill members of the public in a train accident.  Industry standards require train companies to provide adequate training to their conductors and engineers.  Safe companies must also supervise their conductor to ensure that the company’s policies and procedures have been followed, as well as all applicable federal guidelines.  Failing to properly train or audit a conductor the company allows to operate a train can have tragic consequences.
