There was a deadly crash involving a big rig near Anton, Texas in Hockley County on April 29, 2023. During the incident, a semi-truck hit a vehicle that was disabled on US 84. According to reports, the passenger pickup truck had been in a prior accident and was in the inside lane of the highway. The passenger, David Enriquez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Maria Saucedo Ballesteros, was taken to a local hospital where she was also pronounced dead. Both of the victims are from Littlefield, Texas.
