by | Jun 27, 2023 | Industrial Accident

There was a fire at the Livent Plant in Bessemer City, North Carolina on June 26, 2023.  Reports indicate a fire broke out at the plant, which manufactures materials for electric vehicle batteries.  The fire was allowed to burn, because of the water-reactive nature of lithium.  It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the fire.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and manufacturing plants.  There was a pipeline explosion in Gregg County, Texas on May 24, 2023.  There was an explosion at the Oak Grove Power Plant near Franklin, Texas on May 31, 2023.  There was an explosion at the Darling Ingredients Plant in Wadesboro, North Carolina on June 22, 2023.  There was a chemical release at the Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas on June 27, 2023.

Refineries and industrial facilities can pose significant dangers both to workers and to the general public.  When dangerous work is involved, extra precautions must be taken, especially when fires and explosions can occur.  Equipment must be properly inspected and maintained to ensure that accidents do not occur and that hardworking Americans are not hurt.
