Incident at Marathon Refinery in Texas City, Texas

There was an incident at the Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, Texas on June 27, 2023.  Reports indicate a shelter in place has been issued due to a unit disruption at the refinery.  There is a heavy smell of sulfur as a result of the incident.  The shelter in place applies to Texas City east of Highway 146.  The incident remains under investigation at this time.

There have been a number of incidents at industrial and manufacturing plants.  There was a pipeline explosion in Gregg County, Texas on May 24, 2023.  There was an explosion at the Oak Grove Power Plant near Franklin, Texas on May 31, 2023.  There was an explosion at the Darling Ingredients Plant in Wadesboro, North Carolina on June 22, 2023.
