Accidents like this one are not rare occurrences. According to the Storefront Safety Council, a car crashes into a storefront building more than 100 times a day in the United States alone, resulting in over 2600 deaths and 16,000 injuries annually. These accidents can occur due to a variety of reasons, including driver error, mechanical failure, or impaired driving. Businesses located near parking lots or adjacent to high-traffic roads are particularly at risk.

Given the frequency and potential severity of accidents like this one, preventative measures are crucial. These can include the installation of protective barriers such as bollards or reinforced planters in front of a building. Moreover, store layout can be designed in a way to minimize the risk to individuals in the event of a crash.  Companies and property owners simply cannot look the other way and ignore the risk to their customers.
