Tragedy struck on Friday, September 29, 2023, when a 14-year-old bicyclist was fatally injured as he rode through a crosswalk on his way to Cinco Ranch High School, where he was a student. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the car involved in the accident, 20-year-old Devin Delvalle, stayed on the scene and was cooperative with police.
This is the second fatal accident of pedestrians by drivers in the local area within a week. On September 25, 2023, another local pedestrian in Sugar Land was struck by a driver that failed to yield while the pedestrian was using the crosswalk. In this case, the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.
