A catastrophic crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck near Grandfield, Oklahoma, on the morning of December 11, 2023, has led to one fatality and multiple injuries. The collision involved a Grandfield Public Schools bus transporting high school students to classes at the Great Plains Technology Center’s Frederick campus. The bus driver, faced with an oncoming vehicle in the wrong lane, executed evasive maneuvers in an attempt to avoid the collision. The crash resulted in injuries to ten students on the bus, all of whom were treated at nearby medical facilities. A female student, 18, required airlifting to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls. The bus driver, 35-year-old James Jackson, also suffered significant injuries, including internal trauma and leg injuries, and was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, for trauma surgery.
