Construction Worker Suffers Serious Injuries in Incident at TSMC Plant in Phoenix, Arizona

by | Jul 2, 2025 | Construction Accident, Personal Injury

A construction worker was seriously injured on June 30, 2025, while working at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) construction site in north Phoenix. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m., prompted an emergency response from the Phoenix Fire Department and has raised questions about safety practices at one of the most high-profile construction projects in the state.

According to officials, the injured worker was transported to a local hospital in serious condition after emergency crews responded to the site, which is located near Loop 303 and Interstate 17. While specific details about how the injuries occurred have not been released, a statement from TSMC confirmed that the individual “suffered broken bones.”

The worker was reportedly treated at the scene by firefighters before being taken to the hospital. As of now, there has been no official confirmation as to whether the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) will be conducting a formal investigation.

This is not the first incident at the construction project.  A worker was killed in a pressure release/tank explosion at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) construction site on May 15, 2024.

Construction Site Hazards and Safety Oversight

Construction work—particularly on large-scale, high-tech facilities like semiconductor plants—carries inherent risks, including falls, equipment malfunctions, and exposure to hazardous materials. While the exact cause of this accident remains unknown, the presence of broken bones suggests the possibility of a fall, struck-by injury, or heavy equipment involvement.

Key safety issues that may be investigated in such incidents include:

  • Whether fall protection or safety barriers were in place
  • Use and inspection of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Adequacy of supervision and on-site safety enforcement
  • Compliance with OSHA and state-specific construction safety standards

The scale of the TSMC plant and the complexity of the construction operations demand robust safety protocols and training to prevent serious injuries on the job site.

Legal Rights After a Construction Accident

Injured construction workers may have several legal avenues available, depending on the circumstances of the incident. If the injury occurred due to negligence, defective equipment, or violations of safety regulations, legal claims may include:

  • Workers’ compensation benefits for medical costs and lost wages
  • Third-party liability lawsuits against contractors, subcontractors, or equipment manufacturers
  • Claims for permanent disability or long-term care costs if injuries are severe

Even if the worker receives workers’ compensation, additional claims may be possible if safety violations or third-party negligence played a role in the accident.
