18-Wheeler Overturns in Crash on Interstate 20 in Smith County, Texas

Emergency crews responded Wednesday morning to a serious crash on Interstate 20 in Smith County after an 18-wheeler carrying lumber overturned and collided with a passenger vehicle, according to local officials.

The crash was reported around 10:00 a.m. on December 17, 2025, near mile marker 560. Authorities said the tractor-trailer rolled onto its side, spilling lumber across the roadway and partially blocking westbound lanes of traffic. A passenger car involved in the crash had one occupant, who was rescued at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler became trapped beneath the overturned truck and required a lengthy technical extrication. Rescue efforts took approximately two hours before the driver was freed and transported for medical treatment. The extent of the driver’s injuries has not been released. No fatalities were reported.
