Construction Worker Killed After Retaining Wall Collapse at San Antonio Worksite

On March 3, 2026, a construction worker was killed after a retaining wall collapsed at a worksite on the South Side of San Antonio, Texas.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:44 p.m. to the 21400 block of Applewhite Road following reports of a construction accident. Authorities say workers were building a retaining wall when the structure suddenly collapsed, causing a large amount of soil and debris to fall and trap one of the workers beneath it.

Coworkers at the site reportedly attempted to rescue the trapped worker before emergency responders arrived. Despite those efforts, the worker was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. Officials have not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
