Fifth Victim of Corpus Christi Dredge Explosion Dies

A fifth victim of the deadly explosion involving the dredge Waymon L. Boyd on August 21, 2020 has lost his life.  The victim has been identified as Jose Coca who was evacuated after sustaining burns in the explosion.  He received treatment for his burns at San Antonio’s Brooke Army Medical Center.  At the time of the explosion, there were 18 crewmembers on the dredge. The deadly explosion remains under investigation.

Corpus Christi has had a number of serious incidents in the past few months.  On Saturday December 5, 2020, there was an explosion at the Magellan Plant.  A total of seven contractors sustained injuries during that explosion.
