Fire on Container Ship DOLE COLOMBIA

There was a fire on the container ship DOLE COLOMBIA on June 30, 2021.  At the time, the vessel was in port at Wilmington, Delaware.  The vessel was in the process of unmooring when a fire broke out in the engine room.  Crew members were able to extinguish the fire.  The vessel is operated by Tropical Fruit Americas LLC and the registered owner is Ventura Trading Ltd.  The group owner is California-based Dole Food Co.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  The jack up boat SEACOR POWER capsized on April 13, 2021 south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, with search and rescue operations continuing.  The jack up rig VELESTO NAGA 7 sunk on May 3, 2021 while offshore the Malaysian state of Sarawak.  A small recreational boat sank in Galveston, Texas on May 21, 2021.  A small recreational boat struck a concrete pier in Etowah County, Alabama on May 22, 2021.  A fire broke out in the engine room on board the products tanker SEALINK UTSHAB on May 23, 2021.  The offshore supply tug INSPECTA 7 sank on June 2, 2021.  There was a fire on board the container ship MSC Teresa on June 16, 2021.  The general cargo ship PIONEER STAR sank on June 20, 2021.  There was a fire on board the bulk carrier MORNINGSTAR on June 20, 2021.  There was a fire on board the container ship MSC Messina on June 24, 2021.  There was a fire on board the cargo ship KIRSTEN B on June 23, 2021.  A fire broke out on the general cargo ship URA on June 29, 2021.  The fishing ship Pneuma sank on July 1, 2021.
