There was a small plane crash in Lexington, North Carolina on February 16, 2022. The plane, a twin-engine Beechcraft Barron, crashed onto Interstate 85 near the Davidson County Airport. The plane crashed into a tractor-trailer that was on the highway. Reports indicate the plane had taken off from the airport before it crashed. The pilot, Raymond John Ackley, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
