Diamond DA-40 Aircraft Crashes in Utah – Four Killed

There was a small plane crash near Cedar City, Utah on April 23, 2022.  The plane, a Diamond DA-40, crashed while on a sightseeing tour of Zion National Park.  The plane had recently departed Cedar City Regional Airport before crashing roughly six miles away.  According to reports, the plane’s wing may have clipped some trees resulting in the crash. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.  The plane was being flown by Steven Eatchel, a deputy in the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.  The remaining victims have been identified as Lindsay Eatchel, Thomas Eatchel, and Danielle Deagostini.

There have been a number of recent plane crashes in 2022.  A Cessna T206H crashed in Marlin, Texas on April 5, 2022.  A Cessna 208B plane crashed in Heyburn, Idaho on April 13, 2022.  There was a small plane crash in Garrett County, Maryland on April 16, 2022.  A twin-engine Cessna 337 Skymaster crashed in Sylmar, California on April 20, 2022.  A Cessna 340 plane crashed in Covington, Georgia on April 21, 2022.
