Deadly Parasailing Accident in Florida

There was a deadly parasailing accident on May 30, 2022 in Florida.  During the incident, three people were parasailing when the parasailing line was cut loose by the Captain of the vessel which was pulling them.  According to reports, weather conditions changed while the individuals were in the air.  After the line was cut, the parasail continued a mile or two until the three struck the Old Seven Mile Bridge.  One of the individuals lost her life as a result, and two minors sustained injuries.  The victim has been identified as Supraja Alaparthi from Schaumburg, Illinois.  The two minors are believed to have been her son and nephew.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was an explosion on the chemical tanker GULF PETROLEUM 4 on May 6, 2022.  There was a fire in the engine room of the CORMORANT 1 on May 11, 2022, while the vessel was in the Galapagos Islands.  There was a deadly recreational boating accident on May 20, 2022 in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana.  There was a deadly recreational boating accident on May 22, 2022 in Hart County, Georgia.  There was a recreational boating accident on May 27, 2022 near the Fort Pierce Inlet in Florida.
