Shrimp Boat Catches Fire in New Orleans, Louisiana

A shrimp boat caught fire in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 2, 2022.  At the time of the incident, the boat was on the water near Fort Pike State Park.  There were crew members on board the boat when it caught fire, but they were rescued by a good samaritan.  After burning, the vessel sank in the water.  It is unclear if any of the fishermen on board were burned or injured in the incident.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  Five people were killed when two motorboats collided on May 28, 2022 on the Wilmington River in Georgia.  Fifteen were injured in a boat explosion in Seneca, Illinois on May 27, 2022.  A pontoon boat with 13 on board capsized on Lake Pueblo, Colorado on May 29, 2022.  There was a deadly collision between a personal watercraft and a pontoon boat in Sullivan County, Tennessee on May 30, 2022.  The chemical tanker CETUS sank on May 27, 2022.
