Small Plane Crash in Volusia County, Florida – Two Killed

There was a small plane crash in Volusia County, Florida on August 24, 2022.  According to reports, a single-engine MXR Technologies MX2 plane crashed near Lake Ashby, Florida about an hour and a half after taking off from the Spruce Creek Fly-In.  At the time, the plane was conducting flight training exercises.  There were two victims on board: Miroslav Velickovich, the pilot, and Miguel Duarte.  The accident remains under investigation.

There have been a number of recent plane crashes in 2022.  There was a small plane crash in South Haven, Michigan on August 2, 2022.  A Cirrus SR22 crashed in Jefferson County, Washington on August 10, 2022.  A Mooney M20 plane crashed in Hanna City, Illinois on August 13, 2022.  A single-engine Cessna 207 crashed into Lake Powell, Arizona after experienced engine problems.  Two planes were involved in a midair collision in Watsonville, California on August 18, 2022.  There was a small plane crash at the Wichita Valley Airport on August 20, 2022.
