Small Boat Capsizes near Laguna Vista, Texas

A small recreational boat capsized near Laguna Vista, Texas on February 15, 2023.  At the time, the boat had three people on board.  After capsizing, the boaters were able to hold onto the vessel’s hold until the Coast Guard arrived to rescue them.  The boaters were transported to medical personnel at South Padre Island.  Additional details have not yet been released.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was an explosion on board the bulk carrier ORIENTAL GLORY on February 2, 2023.  There was a fire on board the car carrier AH SHIN on February 3, 2023.  Six crew members were killed while cleaning a tank on the the tanker ship HALIMA on February 4, 2023.  The Coast Guard medevaced the injured captain from the bulk carrier PERIDOT on February 6, 2023.  A small recreational boat capsized in Michigan on February 12, 2023.
