There was a fire on board the fishing vessel KALTAN on April 21, 2023. At the time, the ship was in the Japan Sea, southeast of Ulsan, South Korea. Search and rescue operations occurred after the fire broke out. Coast Guard vessels were able to rescue 21 out of 25 crew members. Four crew members remain missing at this time. It is unclear what caused the fire. Additional details have not yet been released.
